How to get a befriender
If you (or the person you care for) are aged 18 or over, live in County Durham and have a learning disability we may be able to provide a befriender to become your regular companion for activities and outings of your choice. Befrienders will normally spend three hours a week but sometimes more with you at a time and day that is agreed with you in advance. This can be averaged out over a four week period so that sometimes it may be possible to do things that will take a little longer. What you will have to pay will depend on your personal circumstances – in some cases it will be only the direct costs of any activities you want to do but if you have a Personal Budget for your care you will have to pay more.
